A new documentary, Prince: R U Listening?, is slated to come out next year. The film will focus on the artist's early years and ascendency via commentary from musicians who played with him alongside his friends and family, according to Screen Daily.

The film will feature interviews with Dez Dickerson, who joined Prince's touring band in 1979 and left the group after the 1999 tour, and André Cymone, who played bass in Prince's teenage band Grand Central in the Seventies and toured with the artist through 1981. It will also feature interviews with Prince's peers and admirers, including Mick Jagger, Billy Idol, Bono, Lenny Kravitz and Sheila E.

Producer Michael Kirk will direct the doc and helm its production for 13 Films. Although 13 Films announced the documentary's existence, the news came via Ascot Elite Entertainment Group, a company that secured the rights to the titles for German-speaking countries in Europe. It has not yet detailed a U.S. release.

In other Prince news, the late artist's estate will host a four-day festival, dubbed Celebration 2017, that will feature performances by many musicians who worked with Prince. These include the reunited Revolution, Morris Day and the Time, New Power Generation, Liv Warfield and Shelby J, and members of 3rdEyeGirl. It will take place from April 20th to April 23rd.

Prince's first posthumously released song, "Moonbeam Levels," recently came out as part of a new compilation, Prince 4ever. The song dates back to 1982, when Prince was working on 1999.

Toutes les tentatives de documentaires sur Prince sont actuellement au point mort, notifiées qu'elles ont été par les avocats de l'Estate qu'il leur était interdit de poursuivre sous peines de poursuites.

On peut supposer que les différentes situations se débloquent une fois le problème des droits réglé, mais rien n'est moins sûr !
